Snooker star Matt Selt had possibly the most unorthodox match of his career during his last 128 victory over Alfie Burden, having won the second frame by playing just the single shot. It was dubbed the ‘fastest frame in snooker history’ having lasted just 100 seconds, but it was not the first time that Selt had made headlines after calling Ronnie O’Sullivan the “biggest p***k on tour”.
Salt broke off in the Brentwood Centre on Thursday, leaving the cue ball back up the table near the cushion and green. His opponent Burden was reluctant to take on the red to the bottom right pocket and instead opted to ease the white into the pack of reds via two cushions.
However, after his first two attempts ended up short, the third ended the same way and a little-known rule saw Burden concede after just 100 seconds as the game’s laws state that failing to hit a ball that is considered ‘on’ in three consecutive attempts results in a frame being conceded – the rule does not apply when a player is snookered.
Selt immediately knew he had won the incredibly short frame and went on to advance to the last 64, but previously had landed himself in hot water having got his name in the headlines last year for a rant on social media aimed at a fan and also snooker icon O’Sullivan.

According to the Daily Star, Selt was forced to appear to appear before the WPBSA Disciplinary Committee, where he admitted breaching the WPBSA Rules and his players contract before being fined £2,000 for calling an autistic fan a “mong” and “pervert” on Instagram.
He was also warned over his conduct and ordered to pay £1,000 in costs after engaging in a spat with a fan, having been unaware of their autism. The snooker professional launched a series of insults after receiving a comment on his story about O’Sullivan being a poor role model after refusing to hit a ball during a tournament.

After the fan had responded to Selt’s story by asking “When’s your match matt??” Selt replied: “Rather not play than be an absolute c*** of a human,” before calling O’Sullivan the “biggest p**** on tour.”
The anonymous fan accused Selt of being “jealous” before the then-world No 21’s temper boiled over and sent a string of abusive messages including one that red: “F****** doughnut. Another Ronnie king. Mong.”
The fan responded by mocking Selt’s career and joking that he had already retired, which prompted another foul-mouthed response of: “You’re a boring c*** aren’t you. Dear me. Struggled this year. 16th highest player in the world. F****** muppet.”
