Colorado high school football: How Top 10 teams fared in Week 6

Class 5A

1. Cherry Creek (6-0) won vs. Cherokee Trail, 48-0: Senior Jordan Herron ran for 117 yards and three TDs on just 10 carries, QB Brady Vodicka completed 10 of 13 passes for 179 yards and two TDs, and the Bruins defense posted its second shutout in three weeks. Next week: vs. Smoky Hill, 7 p.m. Oct. 6.

2. Pine Creek (6-0) won vs. Fountain-Fort Carson, 40-10: Senior RB Jonathan Coar piled up 192 yards and three TDs on 21 carries and linebacker Mason Miller notched a safety as the Eagles handed FFC its first loss of the season. Next week: at No. 10 Regis Jesuit, 6:30 p.m. Oct. 6.

3. Columbine (6-0) won at Pomona, 42-7: Seniors Mason Moreno (10 carries, 148 yards) and Josh Snyder (7-118) led a Rebels rushing attack that gobbled up 442 yards, while QB Reeve Holliday completed all eight of his passes for 90 yards and one score. Next week: at No. 4 Ralston Valley, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 6.

4. Ralston Valley (4-1) at Lakewood, 7:30 p.m. Friday. Next week: vs. No. 3 Columbine, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 6.

5. Arapahoe (4-1) at Smoky Hill, 7 p.m. Friday. Next week: at No. 6 Grandview, 7 p.m. Oct. 5.

6. Grandview (4-1) vs. Eaglecrest, 7 p.m. Friday. Next week: vs. No. 5 Arapahoe, 7 p.m. Oct. 5.

7. Castle View (5-1) lost vs. Valor Christian, 21-3: The Valor Christian defense forced three turnovers, including a pair of Moises Freeman interceptions, and held the Sabercats to just 40 yards on the ground in their first loss of the season. Gabe Sawchuk, Asher Weiner and Chase Hanosh all ran in TDs for Valor. Next week: at ThunderRidge, 7 p.m. Oct. 5.

8. Chatfield (4-1) at Arvada West, 7 p.m. Friday. Next week: vs. Pomona, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 6.

9. Mountain Vista (4-1) at ThunderRidge, 7 p.m. Friday. Next week: at Rock Canyon, 7 p.m. Oct. 6.

10. Regis Jesuit (3-3) won at Douglas County, 35-7: The Raiders snapped a three-game losing streak in dominating fashion, scoring points in all three phases, including a punt block safety, two Jack Manthey field goals and TD runs from three different players as part of a 35-0 run to start the game. Next week: vs. No. 2 Pine Creek, 6:30 p.m. Oct. 6.

Class 4A

1. Palmer Ridge (5-0) at Rampart, 1 p.m. Saturday: The Bears look to extend a 19-game regular-season winning streak that dates back to the 2021 season. Next week: vs. No. 3 Pueblo West, 7 p.m. Oct. 6.

2. Erie (4-1) vs. No. 7 Loveland, 7 p.m. Friday. Next week: at Monarch, 7 p.m. Oct. 5.

3. Pueblo West (4-1) vs. Mesa Ridge, 7 p.m. Friday. Next week: at No. 1 Palmer Ridge, 7 p.m. Oct. 6.

4. Montrose (4-2) won at Grand Junction Central, 43-7: The Redhawks topped 35 points for the third week in a row and were a fourth-quarter touchdown short of their second shutout in three weeks. Next week: at Falcon, 6 p.m. Oct. 6.

5. Broomfield (3-2) vs. No. 8 Dakota Ridge, noon Saturday: The Eagles, who have alternated between wins and losses through five weeks, are looking to establish their first win streak of the season. Next week: vs. Aurora Central, 7 p.m. Oct. 6.

6. Heritage (3-3) lost vs. Fruita Monument, 37-34: Aidan Anderson came up with an interception with less than 10 seconds remaining to end a desperation Heritage drive as well as an Eagles’ three-game win streak in a dramatic back-and-forth affair. Next week: vs. Adams City, 6 p.m. Oct. 5.

7. Loveland (4-1) at No. 2 Erie, 7 p.m. Friday. Next week: vs. Grand Junction Central, 11 a.m. Oct. 7.

8. Dakota Ridge (3-2) at No. 5 Broomfield, noon Saturday: Dakota Ridge is looking to avenge a 55-24 loss last year at home against the eventual 4A state champion Eagles. Next week: vs. Bear Creek, 7 p.m. Oct. 5.

9. Golden (5-1) won at Bear Creek, 32-21: Luc Chevalier found the end zone four times as part of a 149-yard rushing night and Jack Dixon hauled in two passes for 78 yards and a score as the Demons raced out to a 32-7 lead after three quarters and cruised from there. Next week: at Standley Lake, 4 p.m. Oct. 6.

10. Thomas Jefferson (5-0) at Vista Peak Prep, 6:30 p.m. Friday. Next week: vs. Far Northeast, 7 p.m. Oct. 6.
